The Presidential spokesperson Garba Shehu had urged Nigerians not to allow themselves to be deceived by the opposition party PDP over the recent hike in petroleum price.
Garba Shehu, made the statement via a social media post on Tuesday night, September 8.
Shehu in his post warned Nigerian citizens not to be deceived by the opposition party as the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP is using the unusual increase in petrol price as a means of painting Buhari’s administration black, forgetting that they once sold petrol at N600 per liter in 2013.
“Don’t allow the PDP to deceive you. Amidst acute shortages, they sold petrol at N600 per litre on Easter Sunday in 2013,” he tweeted.
Meanwhile APC spokesman Yekini Nabena, in a statement on Monday said the federal government could no longer afford fuel subsidy, as revenues and foreign exchange earnings have fallen by almost 60%, due to the downturn in the fortunes of the oil sector.
Stating that the opposition party PDP were the actual cause of the increase in petrol price as its past official looted all funds gathered from subsidy during their days.
